The fanclub is founded by me (Peter) at the end of 1993. I heard about a T.V. performance of Boney M feat. Liz Mitchell in Hilversum, Holland, where the group promoted their actual single "Brown Girl In The Ring '93". I have been a fan of Boney M and especially Liz Mitchell since the 1970's, but I never had the chance to meet them. So I went to the T.V. studio and there she was in person: LIZ MITCHELL. I introduced myself and my girlfriend and we started to talk. Liz was very friendly and we talked about fans, about life, serious things. And then the fanclub idea came up. Liz was interested immediately, because there was no fanclub anymore. But she only wanted an Official Fanclub. So that's what we are: THE OFFICIAL LIZ MITCHELL/BONEY M FANCLUB!
I started to advertise in Dutch magazines and became a member of the Dutch Fanclub Federation. I came in contact with Mike Simon from Germany who did a sort of info service of Boney M and Liz Mitchell. One month later I had the first fanclubmembers and I made the first fan-newsletter in Dutch what resulted in BONEYMANIA, and later became LIZ MITCHELL MAGAZINE. Three months after I started I received a phonecall from Casper, who had heard of a Boney M/Liz Mitchell fanclub and offered me his help and since then we run the fanclub together. Liz Mitchell has always been Caspers favourite Boney M member, just like me, so we had a lot in common. We share the opinion that Liz created together with Frank Farian the FANTASTIC SOUND OF BONEY M, and she is the only Boney M to us, inspite of other groups who share the same name! We went to a lot of Boney M feat. Liz Mitchell shows together with our girls and we became very good friends.
In June 1995 named our fanmagazine: BONEYMANIA. During the past years we became to know Liz, Thomas, Carol, Patricia and Tony not only as good artists, but also as very warm hearted loving people, and we became all good friends together. In July 1995 Thomas and Liz invited us to their home in England (nearby London) for a barbeque party to celebrate Liz' birthday and the wedding anniversary of Thomas and Liz and we are now friends forever. A special and beautiful highlight was that Boney M feat. Liz Mitchell came to Holland to sing at Caspers wedding in the church. This was unforgetable for us all. Liz and her group flew all the way from Russia to be at the wedding!
Our goal is to bring the artist and their fans a little closer. We know Liz loves her fans and she is very devoted to them. We try to bring all the news about Liz Mitchell, Boney M and things that are related to Boney M and Liz. We receive our news from the first hand: Thomas and Liz, who are very cooperative to us. Also we stay constantly in touch with Hansa/BMG in Germany.
Now we have www.lizmitchellfanclub.com , the Official Liz Mitchell Fanclub Website! This will give a new dimension to the fanclub. In our opinion, every self respected fanclub needs a website. With this website we want to build the most extensive database for Liz Mitchell on the net. Casper and I are building this website with another deevoted fan; Johnny Rijks. We are very happy that Johnny is our webmaster.
We still enjoy working for the fanclub, and we will go on with the Liz Mitchell Fanclub in the future. Liz, her group and her fans deserve it!!!
